New Garden Boxes

During the early part of April, we made some big changes to the garden. As some of you who read my blogs already know, I garden in garden boxes. We moved the boxes from up by the house to out by the greenhouse, yay!! It was a great decision to move them and to top it off we built some more boxes. It makes me so happy to have so much more space to grow stuff!!

Wanna know more about gardening in boxes? Just ask me, read my blog posts, keep checking for more posts to learn more as well

Garden Gorgeousness 2016

I love my garden!! I love watching it grow, I love watering it and I love going out to pick produce. So naturally I must post about it!!

I try to keep the kiddos involved as much as I can. It’s so important for them to know where there food comes from and how to grow it!

In the picture below shows our pole bean teepee. I love the teepee however, I did not care for the quality of the bean it produced. I typically use blue lake bush beans and they are wonderful. Might have to go back to those.

The tomatoes in the picture below are a super sauce tomato, it’s the first year I have ever grown them. I was really impressed with these all around. Flavor was great, though I still prefer my orange tomatoes, hardly any seeds, and lots of meat!

The tomato plants got huge again this year and produced a plethora of tomatoes! Really pleased with the new tomato cages as well, I think we need to go bigger next year.

This amazing tomato plant in the picture below struggled all season long. It was fascinating that even though it looks mostly dead it still was putting off cherry tomatoes!! What a trooper!

Gardening is a huge passion of mine. Do you garden? I’d love to hear about it.

The Potting Bench Project!

We were given an old deck off of my Great Aunt and Uncles house. They no longer wanted it and had plans to burn it. So we salvaged it and made a potting bench! We also built a new deck for Edyths playhouse, but that’s another story. This is where we decided to put the potting bench. I nicknamed this space my hot box garden box years ago when I moved in. A large box tucked up in a corner in full sun most of the day.

I happened to have some old skids lying around that I disassembled and used for the backer boards. Which I think turned out just lovely! We also added a rain barrel and garden boxes. We were also given some old lattice that I painted and used for the potting bench. I am that girl, that girl that loves reusing and repurposing!! There was even enough skid stuff left over for a stand for a super cool metal trash can to store my potting soil in!! This has made gardening so much more fun!!! What a transformation and all with repurposed materials!! A dream come true right here!!

New Tomato Cages!

Every year now for as long as I have gardened, about 13 years now, I have fought with metal tomato cages. Flimsy little things that have never been able to handle the huge tomato plants I grow. So we searched for ideas and inspiration for something better. This is what we came up with. Nice sturdy cages that we can add to as the plants grow! They are working fabulously!! No more bracing off metal cages to still have them collapse under the weight of these massive plants!! Yay!! Happy gardening folks!!

A Place For The Garden Hose

The garden hose has been a nuisance for too many years now, with no where to hang it up, getting left run out through the yard to kill the grass it was laying on, or coiled up on the side walk in a pile in the way. I said no more!! So after looking for inspiration, we came up with this

Beautiful form and great function!! Trust me, I’ve tried those hose real things too, this is by far the best way I’ve found!!!

A 4×4 post, a hose hanger thing and a pretty copper post topper!! Love it!!!

Garden Box Replacement

As most of you know by now, I garden in boxes and containers. One of the first boxes I built when I moved in here finally gave out on me. So I needed to build a new one. Instead of one large box like it was, I built two smaller easier to manage boxes, which actually gives me more space!!

Looks great I think!!! Can’t wait to plant in it!!! Happy gardening!!!

Paying homage to my garden!

Gardening season is fast approaching and I’m giddy with excitement! I love planting, growing and tending to my garden, it feeds my soul! The kids are great helpers with the garden, which is wonderful! I have very fond memories of growing up helping my parents in the garden. So with that being said, here are some pictures of my garden and fabulous produce!!

We got some strange shaped produce this year too!!

 Happy gardening people!!!

How to starts seeds indoors 😃

So after my post yesterday, I thought I’d plant some more seeds and document the whole process for those of you who may be wondering how it’s done.

Supplies I used:

*Countertop/ windowsill greenhouse (you could be creative and use egg cartons and plastic wrap or small cups and plastic wrap, just depends on what you wana use)

*organic seed starting soil (again you could use non organic or other garden soil, it just depends what you want to use)

*seeds (I chose non GMO)

*notebook to log your info on

Now fill all the little compartments with soil, DONT PACK IT!! Keep it light n fluffy so those roots can grow easier. And take ur pinky and waller out a lil hole in the center about half inch deep, again be careful not to pack the soil. Now your ready to drop in your seeds!! Yippie!!

Now I wrote on my greenhouse at this point, left and right sides and it was greenhouse number 2 for me, so I wrote that on it too.

Then I wrote on my notebook what I planted in what spots and wrote the date I planted them.

Now sit your greenhouse in a warm spot and water throughly. Then carry on about your business because it’s gona take a little while before they sprout. Here’s the finished product.

Hope you enjoyed this post and feel free to leave comments or ask any questions! Good luck and happy planting! ✌️❤️😃
